Sant Elena, Venice
The Venice Apartment proposes a contemporary residential complex within Venice’s historic fabric through a contextual massing strategy that balances continuity and permeability. Courtyard organization is combined with rotated volumes to generate porosity and moments of public encounter, referencing the spatial logic of Venice’s calle. Curved and overlapping circulation paths structure interior movement and create varied residential experiences. The exterior maintains proportional alignment and material restraint to integrate with its surroundings. In response to sea-level rise, residential functions are elevated on raised platforms, while the ground level accommodates adaptable public programs, allowing the building to operate as a compact urban network resilient to environmental change.
